One issue is that refs seem to avoid making a decision on the field. That does not help communication. That should be first starting point.
I’ve never watched Air Crash Investigation and thought that pilot communications would fix VAR in Scottish football. Least we can assume one of the pilots isn’t doing paperwork during the flight.

This is the burial place of Scottish Kings and Clan Chiefs - The Reilig Odhraìn on the Isle of Iona. Found right beside Iona Abbey, this wee spot has been used as far back as the 7th century, becoming one of the most sacred places in Scotland
