I’m sure most media members who cover the Toronto Maple Leafs have a good relationship with the team’s media contacts. All you needed to do in this scenario is ASK and check if he was requested or not. Instead, everyone piled on for easy ears and clicks. Not a hard concept.
Quick clarification: Auston Matthews never refused to speak to media on Friday around Marner’s homecoming. I just checked with a few different people— no media requests for a pre- or post-game scrum were made. The narrative that he refused is not true. Props to @jonassiegel
