Even though it was not the goal, America made some fantastic investments during the financial crisis - so yes it can be done by “gobernment” and Intel is today’s equivalent of BAC except today we also have China trying bankrupt these vital industries.

I think this is good policy (on surface level - don’t know the details here). American govt should be shoring up vital industries. Letting private equity gut important companies, go bankrupt, or get bought by SWFs has had a 3+ decades run and it’s been a disaster.

Wow just looked up stats and did not realize how uncommon this was in America to become a great uncle by age 40 (or great aunt by age 38) - it’s not abnormal in my community . Sad to see decline of family in this country.
