New article w/ @liamstanley and @DillonWamsley in British Politics. Using the tools of British political economy, we situate the interlocking crises of fiscal capacity, territorial integrity and decarbonisation in the UK in deeper historical context.

Great piece from Sheffield UCU here on how, despite what university leadership might suggest, the data clearly shows any financial issues at the institution are not primarily the result of sector wide pressures, but a result of their mismanagement.

University management claims the current financial situation is entirely down to external factors. The evidence suggests otherwise.

It argues that, despite the politicising effects of the poll evident from the nationalist boycott, it did ultimately serve to depoliticise the border question by (partially) defusing unionist concerns following direct rule and by reconfiguring legitimacy for the UK longer-term.

📢New Publication📢Very happy to see this article finally out open access in @BritJPIR! Building on research from the PhD and postdoc last year, the piece conducts an archival analysis of the 1973 Northern Ireland border poll.
