A group of snails overwintering in a cosy nook of a tree. They form a protective cover over the opening of their shells by building up lairs of mucas & their blood acts as a type of anti-freeze, allowing them to survive temperatures as low as -5ยฐ. Wonderful little creatures.

Nice piece on new approaches for improving #snakebite treatments in Nature - showcasing some of our work @CSRIatLSTM and others like @AndreasLaustsen @srhall106 @TimothyPJenkins @Neely_Lab

Dear @LayaHealthcare, you literally have the life of one of the finest scientists and people I have ever met in your hands. Please sort this out and make the right decision. This man's teaching&research has literally saved lives. Now return the favour! #Fundimmuno @BernardPMahon
Today was the "soft-launch" of our media campaign to get all Irish health insurers fund cancer immunotherapy #FundImmuno . I have been overwhelmed with the support (over 5000 shares in a day, just on LinkedIn). Thank you. @LayaHealthcare do us right!

My dear friend, colleague and mentor Prof Bernard Mahon needs our help. He has contributed so much to Irish Immunology @Irishimmunology and @MaynoothUni and deserves the best EMA approved healthcare possible. Why wont @LayaHealthcare fund Immunotherapy for Bernard? VHI do, RT๐
My name is Bernard, living in Ireland. I have stage 4 stomach cancer. My medical consultants recommend Immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Despite best scientific and clinical evidence, my Irish healthcare insurer won't fund this. Am I alone?
