It was fantastic to hear the latest on Maxie's research on how EPR can be used to understand the mechanism of complex I and the fate of the ROS it produces. And of course lovely to host Maxie in York ☺️

This is beautifully done: a paralog of EF-P involved in rescue of ribosome stalled at proline codons that is also sensitive to lysine acetylation. Nice figures too. I liked it!
Check out our new preprint about new insights into translational rescue at proline stalled ribosomes and functional diversification of EF-P and EF-P like proteins

It’s basically as in the quote but for the Biochemical Society to serve the biochemical and related communities we need the right people on the committees! It isn’t too arduous so please do consider. We have people from the UK, Republic of Ireland, and further afield contributing
Get involved in the molecular bioscience community & have the opportunity to be a champion for your field of expertise. Your ideas could play an integral part in shaping the future conferences programme aligned to the delivery of the wider Society strategy https://t.co/5MR0dPfM2A

Adding elemental colour to our greyscale cryoEM maps maps! Great to see powerful techniques from materials EM being applied to biology but it’s not easy with damage, so this is a major advance and very laudable with lots of room for future progress by this team
Happy to announce that our efforts to establish elemental mapping for cryo-EM ❄️ by EELS 🌈 are now shared on bioRxiv: https://t.co/hCTHQCyxN4 Congratulations to @zoliviapg and co-authors! But wait - Can we map elements in 3D? 🧵👇 1/6

@greeninglab @JNB_lab @Rhys__G Agreed with Chris! The data suggest CoxG makes contact with the membrane to extract menaquinone. This is supported by the surface charge of CoxG, menaquinone extraction experiment, CoxG hydrophobic core/density in the structure and KO experiments.
