In 1973 a mother opened the newspaper to see two of her daughters-taken from her by the state-advertised for adoption. Saskatchewan Native Women’s Association began protesting adoption ads just like these, and the entire “Adopt Métis” program.

My 4 year old reflected this evening that she should have protested at the aquarium today during the sea lion show when a trainer pulled one of the sea lions from the show because why should she have to follow the trainer’s rules? What have I done.

I’ve been shouted at, directed to leave the courtroom mid proceeding until I could muster “decorum for the court”, called “Ms. Rodríguez”/many other Latino surnames. It sucks. But it pales in comparison to how I’ve seen judges talk to my clients.
Judges need to stop shouting at counsel. We don’t go to work to be shouted at. No one should. What’s even more frustrating is when you notice judges who are keen to shout at young females but not older males. It’s workplace bullying.
