Shotspotter doesn't work. It fails to make our communities safer, at the expense of increased surveillance & policing of Black and Latine neighborhoods and $54M dollars. We spoke with @HellGateNY about our new report analyzing 9 years of NYPD data:

New data offers the deepest look yet at the NYPD’s very expensive, not very accurate gunfire detection system.

New York decided to treat youth like youth when it passed Raise the Age. Rolling it back is not only a step backward, but ignores all the evidence about what actually makes our communities safer. Read Juval Scott and @ProfKrisHenning in @NYDailyNews: https://t.co/Njuppbra9L

The rash of in-custody deaths is a city-created crisis: People are dying in city custody. This crisis is fueled by the NYPD refusal to stop in-custody arrests for low-level offenses—where the law clearly requires appearance tickets—paired with underinvestment in our communities.

New Yorkers should be able to go about their daily lives freely without the fear that one routine interaction could turn into permanent separation from their friends, family, and community. Now is the time to pass #NY4All! ⏰ Tell your lawmaker:
🚨 We are live in the Capital War Room, sharing stories of community members who have been impacted by ICE collusion with local police. When Delmy hit a deer, the police that came to help her called immigration instead. Hear her husbands testimony 👇 #NY4All
