Sat down with constitutional attorney @Anastasia_esq to talk baseball, standing up for what's right, and good old-fashioned hard work. She taught me about how @PacificLegal fights for the Constitution, and I taught her how to block!.
MLB All-Star Jonathan Lucroy lives to prove everybody wrong via @YouTube.

Backup sliders work well but are hard to do consistently. Japanese guys call it the gyro ball. Hitter swings to the break and it doesn’t break. Chews the hitter up.
@JLucroy20 I’d like to know if that “hole” was the product of “backup sliders” as opposed to curveballs actually executed to that zone though. Could be misleading data.

Read my whole tweet. I'm talking about if he would have been drafted or not because of the way analytics are used now to evaluate draft eligible, or young minor league players. Not debating his big league career numbers.
Craig Counsell had 22 DRS or more at 3 IF positions including shortstop. Who thinks that isn't valuable?.

I never did that unless what I was told was crazy. Analytic guy told me one time that certain player couldn't hit CB's up/in. True story. That he had a big hole there. If you know baseball at all you know how hard that is to execute for a pitcher. It was right on right too.
@JLucroy20 that,” “tell me more,” and “could I have been doing this wrong?”. Imo if you’re first reaction to an alterior opinion is but but I’ve been doing this for 20 years that’s ONLY pride and ego speaking. All I’m saying here is experience might mean you’re right but it also might not.

In what other profession is this relevant?.
@inthebullpenflf @DMEASrecruiting @JLucroy20 I mean as long as we’re talking about unnacceptable debate tactics, what you’re implying is one. Credentials might mean something, they also might not. Among an ever changing game someone who has experience in the past game may not understand what’s best in the current one.

What I am saying is that have great analytics personally doesn’t mean your team is going to win more. I value team analytics more than personal ones outside of evaluating their weaknesses/tendencies as a hitter. Having great analytics doesn’t make you a winner. We all know.
@JLucroy20 Are you saying you measure the efficacy of framing and other modern baseball revelations based on team success? Are you saying you weren’t actually as good as WAR says because your team didn’t make playoff runs?.

I’m well aware. However, my teams only went to the playoffs once during those good years. I soon figured out that “framing” your way to the World Series wasn’t possible. A little more to it than that.
Jonathan Lucroy is angry because he doesn’t understand the modern game of baseball. If he did, he’d be aware that he himself is a generational sabermetric DARLING.
