Not a good call. This play usually gets leeway from Umps since it was a headfirst hook slide.

Remember 8 years ago when some guy (who never played baseball) somehow convinced people that the thing we were missing from hitting more HRs was to swing up?. -& every hs player was promised a surge in HRs?. -But we didn’t see more HRs?. Just wanted to say I told you so.

I’ve missed many blocks in my day. However it was never because I wasn’t ready to block. Same pitch, same spot.
@JLucroy20 There wasn’t a trend of every missed block being passed around the internet when you played. The anti-OKD mafia scours the internet to prove their point. Just because it’s not all over the internet doesn’t mean guys weren’t screwing up blocks for a 100 years.

Not being in a position to block with a runner on 3rd is inexcusable. Worse thing is that the pitch is a change up. Rule #1. Always be in a position to block an OFF SPEED pitch with a runner on or with 2K’s. Prioritizing framing over blocking and here is the result. No.
