I did a deep dive game theory sim for free buses yesterday, proving it will drive Mamdani's plan another $500M-1B in debt because he didn't account for a loss in congestion tax revenue. TODAY: Rent freezes 🧵

A man poured flammable liquid on a woman and set her on fire during an argument aboard a Blue Line train in the Loop last night. She is in critical condition. He is on the loose. https://t.co/jI5IsdLTCN

DSA Ald. Rossana Rodriguez Sanchez claims "the only thing we have done is cut spending every year" which is an OUTRAGEOUS lie. Chicago is an outlier in the country as its budget is up 60% since pre-covid.

Look at this. These people really think we’re stupid. From @CTULocal1 $7.7 million in trips to @ChicagosMayor incompetent leadership, reckless spending, and financial mismanagement , all while funding illegal immigrants as businesses and families leave the city. Don’t blame any
Did your property taxes go up? You’re not alone. While families in our neighborhoods pay more, ultra-wealthy corporations are getting tax breaks. City Council has a choice: they can invest in our schools and our communities, by taxing wealthy corporations OR they can protect

From Bloomberg: declining values in Chicago commercial properties (-7.2% in Loop) + higher costs for CPS resulted in tax burden shift of extra $469m to homeowners. At this rate, the “fair share” for corporations to pay will eventually be $0… Want more tax revenue? Grow economy!

This has to be the most dishonest post I have seen in a long time. I'm not the first person to say this, but it is worth saying again. Chicago Mayor Johnson has tried to raise all of these taxes on the working people and hardworking business owners of Chicago. Johnson's
Grocery taxes, garbage taxes, beer taxes, property taxes, rising rents — Chicagoans can’t shoulder any more. City Council has a choice: protect Chicago’s working families OR give in to ultra-wealthy corporations. https://t.co/46kBuLo0ak

I had to buy a windows machine today for work... long story, but needed it to compile an app for windows. First thing I did was uninstall 2GB of bloatware. But one that stuck out was @HP "privacy" settings. I ran a sniffer and they were sending ALL my data to their servers. 🤬

This is the type of gaslighting that is poisoning voters. Socialists promise free stuff with more taxes. However, the US has the highest choice quotient in the world. Chicago and NYC are the highest choice cities in thh US. People leave. We need growth, not more taxes.
"The city council has two options: They can tax the rich or they can decimate services and tax working-class people." - Mayor Brandon Johnson 90% of Black and Latine voters support taxing ultra-wealthy corporations to protect our city. And Mayor Brandon Johnson's Protecting

Haha I loathe @cpstalions for the cheating scheme he orchestrated. I think I like him as a person, though. What a banger reply 🤣
@JordanStrack Agreed. Unbeatable. They should be ~ 20.5 pt favorites the rest of the way and will coast with no problems.

We can finally all admit SEC is mid (AGAIN) this year, right? 🤣 Last 2 years, ESPN kissed their butts and then admitted they had them wrong after SEC got steamrolled in bowls. But then was back on the bias train this year. It's clear SEC just isn't good. Lost everyone to NIL

So I've been defending Julian Sayin saying he's not a check down merchant. Def looks like one today. I suppose the bracket every play on Smith is having an impact with Tate out. He has decent coverage but isn't getting downfield looks.

Question for all you macroeconomists out there: Is it good economic policy to raise real estate taxes such that your tax bill is more than your mortgage? Asking for me, not a friend. @ChicagosMayor was months late on sending tax bills. They're online now and 40% higher.

It's insane to me that releasing the files isn't 435-0. There must be very damning content on prominent public figures. Great. We deserve to know so we can impeach/censure/deport them and start over with moral leaders.
The ratio on this post should serve as the ultimate warning to all of my Republican colleagues. You vote NO on Tuesday to release the Epstein files and face severe outrage from America. Republicans don’t have support from women and this right here is a perfect example of why.

Sadly @ChicagosMayor has said: “We either challenge these large corporations to put more skin in the game ... or someone needs to propose increasing taxes on working people. Those are the only options we have.” We have a third option: cut spending!
Mayor Brandon Johnson said he has no intention of slowing down a budget process that began in April. He’s still pushing for a final vote before Thanksgiving.

And in Chicago: 'It appears Chicago Mayor is considering massive property tax hike' since no one wanted his massive new head tax. Heads, taxpayers lose. Tails, taxpayers lose.
Chicago Mayor Johnson previously called a"head tax" for every new employee hired by large companies. Now, it appears Johnson is considering an alternative massive property tax so, if he cannot chase businesses from the city, he can stampede homeowners.
