Simmons just finished his first year at FIU. He was insanely successful at Florida A&M. Jeff Behrman is currently the head coach at John Carroll. He’s had 3 straight really good years at JCU.

Wildcards: Mouser is 34. He’s a Toledo guy at heart. His dad was the GM of the Storm in the 90’s. He was a GA for Matt Campbell at Toledo & is the OC for him now. Gradkowski is the an offensive assistant with the Lions and a Toledo legend. Would be a hit with fans.

Jacobs has been insanely successful. He’s a Maumee HS grad. He’s got head coaching experience. Harding is also a Maumee HS grad & is in the Toledo Hall of Fame. He’s been an assistant at Utah for over a decade. (My Maumee bias is showing - but they’re great choices, imo)

Everyone knows how I feel about Jason Candle. Beyond happy for him. He’s an awesome human with a great family. He loves Toledo. He totally embraced NW Ohio. UConn is lucky to have him & I have no doubt Bryan Blair will make a great hire for the Rockets.

So freaking happy for Matt Campbell. 10 years ago, he left Toledo. I rushed out to the airport & got the ‘Marty Smith/Lane Kiffin interview’ 🤣 He always says he wants to leave a place better than he found it. He did that in Toledo & Ames. From 2015:

If you’re an Iowa State fan…and this is your reaction…please seek help. In what world can you possible think this is a normal reaction to Matt Campbell leaving? The guy was insanely loyal and turned down so many opportunities - INCLUDING THE NFL. This is actually insane.
No statue. No hall of fame. No bringing him back to be honored when they run him out of town in 3 years. Burn all the black uniforms.

I actually firmly agree with this. The calendar sucks. However, no one - and I mean no one - feels bad for Ohio State lol. You’ve lost 1 game in 2 years and are about to steamroll to a second straight Natty. Ryan Day is fine. I promise.

Highest rated recruiting classes in MAC football history: 1. Toledo - 2026 2. Toledo - 2025 3. Toledo - 2024 Jason Candle is an absolute monster in recruiting. His ability to get kids to come in and then stay at Toledo is beyond impressive.

Iowa State has won 8+ games 13 times in 134 years. Matt Campbell has 5 of the 8. People that don’t realize he’s elite are absolutely fooling themselves. It’s not even a debate.
