After weeks of delays, WIGOP wrapped w/out expanding postpartum care or sufficiently funding long-term care. But thanks to @GovEvers, we did secure $330M for childcare & the largest special ed investment in WI history. Still, it's not enough, & the fight is far from over.
Just hours after details of a budget deal between Republican leaders and Democratic Gov. Tony Evers were made public, the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee took its final votes Tuesday and ultimately passed the spending package. It’s good having a governor who gets it. Child care is how we keep our workforce moving and our families supported.
Folks, Sarah is right. Our state has faced workforce shortages for years, and we can't afford more folks leaving their jobs because they can't access child care. We must invest in child care in this budget to lower costs for families and keep our workforce and economy strong.

Republicans are running back into the arms of the Governor after extremist members of their party were unwilling to compromise on the state budget. If they can’t find reasonable members on their side, our doors are always open. We just hope they decide before it's too late.
JUST IN: Budget talks stall again at the state Capitol. The Joint Finance Committee canceled its executive session at the last minute as the budget deadline nears.

.@GovEvers delivered $10M for workforce training across Wisconsin. Now imagine what we could do if Republicans hadn’t blocked the rest of his plan. With paid leave, apprenticeships, and local training grants, we could be leading the country in worker readiness.
NEWS: We've awarded over $10 million in Worker Advancement grants to 10 regional partners across our state to help 1,400+ Wisconsinites find work and grow their skills. Together, we're building the 21st-century workforce Wisconsin needs. More here ⬇️ https://t.co/kgN9G2D7aX

With the DC GOP working to cut Medicaid and SNAP, we have an obligation to step in and support our people.  Instead, the WIGOP Majority is working behind the scenes to deliver a tax cut to their wealthy donors, paid for by further cuts to the services Wisconsinites rely on.
Sen. Kelda Roys emphasized that Wisconsin residents did not request more tax breaks for the wealthy or large corporations.

Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee cut the “Healthy Meals, Healthy Kids” program from @GovEvers’ budget, which would have saved working families $1800 on their groceries every school year. That’s ridiculous. @StateRepTip

Across Wisconsin, we heard people ask for strong schools, affordable child care, housing, and property tax relief. After 15 years of underfunding by the WI GOP and federal chaos under Trump, @GovEvers’ budget meets the moment, delivering a positive way forward for Wisconsin.

At all 4 hearings we heard stories from parents about the need for increased education funding, people who were worried about cuts to medicaid and access to healthcare, families who can no longer afford child care, and many other stories about overall affordability.

We visited Hsu’s Ginseng farm ahead of Wausau’s budget hearing. With over 90% of U.S. ginseng grown here, tariff-driven inflation is hitting farmers hard, and Wisconsin must step up to support our farmers.
