I'll just show this tweet instead of trying to explain the big difference between MSc. in Canada and the states everytime it comes up.
@lifeof_dan @cycl0pentadiene I'll also point out that most/all Canadian research universities offer a lab-based MSc (as opposed to classes and lit review only), and MSc folx from Canada are highly sought out by industry in the US (and other countries, obviously, but I mention that because you're from the US)

Feeling somewhat vindicated because I felt pretty bad for having this question and couldn't come up with a very convincing answer for myself.
Why doesn't NaH behave as a reducing agent towards carbonyls? I've heard various explanations over the years, from poor orbital overlap, to high basicity, to lack of solubility of the hydride ion.

To balance out the bad juju, here's a sample that looks perfect and also ended up working just fine for a different compound. #realtimechem

So happy to be back in Canada since I left in 2019 to reunite with the people I’ve missed so much. See you again soon!
A fun day when former group member @JAY_KS_LEE stops by to say hello. Thanks for taking the time to visit!
