PSA FOR ALL YOUTUBE CREATORS/VIEWERS Youtube has implemented AI filters at the start of August and it is decimating a lot of channels. For some people it was turned on automatically, basically rendering a lot of videos they usually enjoy fully invisible. If you've noticed a

So, apparently, on top of the 'steal this image with our AI' button that now apparently exists on Twitter, the idiocy is now also mis-labeling legitimate art as being created with that AI. I already stopped posting art here ages ago, but I'll keep recommending bluesky anyway

Trump and Musk ordered all peer reviewed scientific publications regarding climate change, gender affirming care, or reproductive health publications be retracted. So how is this not Weimar Republic 2.0, again?

This is the state of things, even if your household has two incomes from two separate fields, you're not safe from AI. How can people champion this?

Great news from the UK. The House of Lords has rejected the government’s poorly considered proposal to weaken the protection of creative workers to allow AI companies to use their works without consent. A victory for common sense. Hopefully the House of Commons will follow suit.

The Lords have done the right thing this evening by backing Baroness Kidron's amendments. AI is a powerful tool that will do meaningful good for society, but British IP must be respected and protected. @DCMS @SciTechgovuk

The core regulatory proposition of the tech industry is "it's not a crime if we do it with an app." It's not an unlicensed taxi if we do it with an app. It's not an illegal hotel room if we do it with an app. 1/

Who the f*ck gives @sama the right to unilaterally and undemocratically disrupt "the entire structure of society"? This is absolutely outrageous. We need to stop this immediately.

"In theory, generative AI could help some developers lighten their workloads. That’s not happening. Instead, developers are reportedly working longer hours than they have in years." Fixing AI slop leads to underpaid jobs and overworked work environments.

52% of 3,000 devs surveyed by the organizers of GDC said the company they work for is pushing and using generative AI. We already know artists and others are being forced to pick up the slack with AI after layoffs, so where does this leave game devs and the industry?

As for the other 2 colors, those have a simpler explanation: Most printers have 'rich black' enabled by default, which is a black achieved by mixing ALL of the inks together. If you don't want that, you need to dive deep into printer settings to turn it to black&white only.

It's because printers need the yellow ink to print the invisible tracking marks which the government can use to track down the printer if it's used in crime This sounds 100% schizo but it's real

The AI critics have been proved right about basically everything so far. But one thing that has surprised me is how much the companies are trying to FORCE us to look at GenAI. Top of every Google search. Bottom of every viral tweet. No way to let users turn off. Seems desperate.

Friendly reminder that anti-intellectualism is an authoritarian tactic that is used to control a population by robbing people of the tools to understand and solve problems, foster innovation and build up communities. Education gives people power to improve their conditions.
