Meet Vanessa Torres, Keating Finalist #9! A senior at @DePauwU, Torres is a Mexican-American student majoring in English Writing. She interned for @BOMBmagazine, Straus News and is a staff writer for @TheDePauw, a Writing Center Tutor, and Sec. for the Cte. for Latinx Concerns.

Meet Seth Nelson, the 6th finalist in the Keating Competition! A junior at @LifeAtPurdue, he's been a student journalist for 3 years, serving as Editor-in-Chief of @purdueexponent. His reporting spans topics from poverty to politics.

Finalist #5, Kyle Smedley, is a senior journalism/telecommunications major at @BallState, and reports on various sports. Since 2021, he’s written for @indystar, Sporting News, and more. He co-hosts the "Exposed Turnbuckle Wrestling Podcast" and won the 2023 competition.

Keating Competition Finalist #4: Maggie McGuire! A senior at @FranklinCollege majoring in ecology and conservation biology, she also minors in math, chemistry, and multimedia journalism. She aims to pursue a PhD in marine science and work with National Geographic.
