The IDS is still walking out today, but there is a historic protest on campus happening. Given that armed IUPD and state police officers forcefully arrested peaceful pro-Palestinian protestors setting up tents in Dunn Meadow, we are providing a thread of what happened so far:
BREAKING: Hundreds of protesters joined the encampment at Dunn Meadow after the faculty and grad worker union rally at Bryan Hall. It is one of the largest crowds at Dunn Meadow since the encampment began.
BREAKING: Bob Knight, controversial Indiana basketball coaching legend, dies at 83. Knight passed away on Nov. 1, 2023.

President Whitten and Provost Shrivastav released their first public statement about the Gaza encampment after four days.
Student leaders on campus denounced the letter, saying many of its claims are false and that administration ignores student concerns.

BREAKING: Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton is issuing an emergency executive order which goes into effect Friday, August 21, at noon. The order limits the size of private gatherings to 15 from 50 within city boundaries. Story to come.
BREAKING: Associate professor Murray McGibbon has left IU.
The IDS published an investigation Monday detailing years of sexual harassment allegations against McGibbon.

The student-made YouTube series “What’s Black About It” has been added as a part of a class on race. The show promotes inclusion for Black students at IU.
THREAD: IU determined associate professor Murray McGibbon sexually harassed a freshman in 2018. Evidence revealed a “concerning pattern,” a Title IX investigation report said.

BREAKING: IU said in an email there has been an alarming increase in positive COVID-19 tests within Greek housing. Eight Greek houses are required to quarantine, according to the email. Story to come.

After a video surfaced yesterday of a large gathering going on in Bloomington, IU Bloomington said in a tweet they are investigating the large gathering that violated county and state regulations, stating it was a threat to the IU community.

Faculty will hold a vote of no confidence in the president, provost and vice provost for faculty and academic affairs Tuesday. Here is a breakdown of Whitten’s controversial tenure as president of Indiana University.
More than 100 people in masks attended a sit-in protest against sexual assault Thursday outside Eigenmann Residence Hall. The protest was in response to a reported rape at Eigenmann Hall.
BREAKING: IU expects to have in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies on all of its campuses for 2020 and 2021 graduates, according to an email from IU President Michael McRobbie.
Attendance will be limited to graduates only.

COVID-19 cases forced Michigan to cancel its game against No. 4 Ohio State. Without this game, Ohio State is ineligible to play in the Big Ten Championship.
As of now, No. 12 IU football would play No. 14 Northwestern for the Big Ten Championship.
