This is actually not true; contrary to popular belief Sinhalese people also practice caste and untouchability. All of the presidents of Lanka except for one, Premadasa, have all been from the landlord Govigama caste. Caste exists in Lanka/Eezham, it just works differently
It is because Srilanka is largely a caste-free society. People don’t throw trash thinking it is the lower caste’s problem of removing trash.
