What on earth is going on at Indiana University?
We are alarmed that @IUMediaSchool issued orders to interfere with content @idsnews and fired its adviser. These actions disregard strong First Amendment protections and a long-standing tradition of student editorial independence @IUBloomington. More: https://t.co/9eeacCDrWy

The Indiana Daily Student has over $400K to spend, but the former adviser said administrators hamstrung his ability to use those funds, worsening the newspaper's deficit spending. Of note: Mark Cuban's recent $250K donation nearly matches the deficit https://t.co/XPB3QcOmCw

The @purdueexponent’s “Operation Clandestine Delivery” was a success! We delivered special edition Exponents to the IU campus after the University admin there canceled @IDSnews print editions. Student journalism solidarity. 👊🏼

It has been an informative week with Indiana University trying to defend effectively gagging their student newspaper, but if Hoosiers don’t do anything we’ll be better at one more thing — journalism.

Indiana University has ordered its student paper to end all print publication. The school says it's a business decision. Editors and experts say it's censorship.

Guess what @IUBloomington the journalism community is quite literally standing up against the attack on @idsnews by giving Jim Rodenbush a standing ovation. It’s been impeccable timing as we’re gathering at #MediaFest25 @mcuban @spj_tweets @collegemedia @acpress

Not happy. Censorship isn’t the way. I gave money to IU general fund for the IDS last year, so they could pay everyone and not run a deficit. I gave more than they asked for. I told them I’m happy to help because the IDS is important to kids at IU
IU previously directed the Indiana Daily Student to stop printing news coverage in our paper. Upon pushback, IU fully cut print, including our special editions. The IDS was not involved in the decision. Letter from the editors to come.

Shame on Indiana University. I wouldn’t be the reporter I am without my time learning real journalism at the IDS.
