Finally ready to talk about this: I applied for Permanent Residency in the US under the Extraordinary Ability Category (EB1) & it was approved last month.
Grateful to have gotten this in my first year here + before graduating 🥹🥹
When I was a kid, I had a really rich friend.
I was so envious of his house, toys, and stuff.
But after we’d hang out, he’d eat a chef-prepared meal in front of the TV alone—and I’d go home to eat dinner with my family.
It was only later that I realized: I was the rich one.
The fact that many Nigerians learn French in school for at least 3 years & yet so few of us can hold a casual conversation in French, says a lot about our educational system.
The way people have announced their 2:1 Law School result is disheartening.
“2:1 but it’s still something ”
“Not a 1st class but..”
Hello? That’s an excellent result.
My dreams came true this year: I got admitted to Columbia Business School & Harvard to do an MBA and Masters in Public Policy.
Grateful to have received Harvard’s Belfer Young Leader in Science & Tech Fellowship + Columbia's Merit Fellowship & Kadell Scholarship.
Companies are so funny. Someone asks for a pay raise, citing data of their value add, you decline their request. Few months later, they resign for a new job paying 2-3x. Now you want to form moral outrage, disloyalty, blah blah? Bffr plsss
Exciting news!
This summer, I’m joining the Asset Management & Private Wealth Management group at
@GoldmanSachs
in San Francisco Bay Area.
I’ll also be teaching & mentoring young students at
@Yale
University.
A busy, busy summer! 😊

I can’t stand you people that see politics as just a big chess game no matter how many real lives it destroys.
‘Masterful tactics’, ‘Political genius’. Just get lost pls.
Finished my last exam & graduating this week. My heart is at peace, my mind is at rest. My family who i love are around me.
I should write something about the entire MBA experience.
If you’re a man, reconsider the way you insert your thoughts in women-centered conversations.
It’s all theory and academic for you, you’ll never be in that life and death situation yourself. Approach it with humility & empathy.
“If you don’t know what you want to do yet, try different things. See what resonates & what doesn’t. Then course correct & figure it out as you go.”
Finding your purpose is a messy, trial & error process that comes from doing not thinking.
I miss thé days where people were strictly just friends or strictly dating.
Now there are some mythical talking stages where they fool themselves, communicate nothing & defer commitment for as long as possible (while expecting exclusivity). Trash.
If you like cry in my mentions and call me uncle Ruckus and coon, talk about racism and colonialism being the reason we cannot develop the continent.
I will still tell you that your elites hide corrupt cash proceeds in septic tanks in 2024 like mere monkeys storing bananas.
Good morning from here and here are some answers to your questions from my previous post on Love vs Career
Finland guy: few years ago when I heard from him, he is married (he got married a year or so after we didn’t work), he has a career and doing really fine.
People think privilege = wealthy parents bribing your way into a job/school but more often it manifests as:
- Early exposure (education, travel) to develop your dreams
- Freedom to pursue ur dreams w/out external responsibilities
- Reassurance of a safety net if your dreams fail
Instead of extending your vanity streak on Duolingo, you can download HelloTalk and have a brief chat with a native speaker. It will 100x your language learning.
Underrated career planning method is actually reviewing JDs for positions way ahead of you. You start to subtly know what’s important to get better at and gain experience in.
I Like how some are assuming a man has been buying me phones all my life from childhood. Instead of you know, the people who gave birth to & raised me.
Pls stop consistently hurting people intentionally in relationships (ghosting, cheating, etc). You are creating a scarred, damaged human being. Stop normalizing it with jokes and banter too. It’s deplorable.
My preference will always be getting experience before Masters. Even if it’s a year. It informs your choice of a Masters program + makes you actually competitive in the job market when you’re done.
Same set will come to cry about how nobody buys them things or treats them specially or blah. But they have a specific type and absolutely cannot stand the women who could actually do those things.
My problem is that they never go to Tony Elumelu’s office and say the hi to get his $$ millions. It’s normal people's NGN100k they love dragging for some reason.
‘Jazz is not real’ but someone said Hi to me and I submitted my phone, atm card, cash and told them my pin thrice in ibadan there, my eyes didn’t clear till I got home, Pls make una no vex me 😒
Nigeria Night: VP Shettima and Ministers Dance ‘Buga’ at Davos 2024

If your identity or worth is based on having impressive grades/qualifications, who are you when you’re in a room of people with (equal or more) impressive qualifications?
@its_daqueen
Because people want super ‘neat’ braids that look a certain way. If you’re okay with a level of frizz, it shouldn’t be that tightly gripped

Shifted the goalpost from professional credibility to ‘life progress’ when you realized you were wrong. You don’t get to determine who feels their life is good or not. If a woman wants to have a career & family, she should not be penalized for it but often is.
8 hours of sleep in your 20s?
It's either you' re dead or your dreams are.
How can you be spending 1/3rd of your life sleeping?
What will you do when you're old and weak?
There's time for everything please.
Cut down your sleep if you want your dreams to become a reality.
You earn 200k a month and have a child.
You hire a cleaner for 30k monthly and a nanny for 50k monthly. That’s 80k.
Your husband makes 350 monthly. Pays bills, rent and a driver (60k) from his salary.
Sure they should be paid more but where is that more coming from?
Read something this morning: “To master a field, you must love the subject and feel a profound connection to it. Your interest must transcend the field itself and border on the religious.”

The road between effort and result isn’t the same in both environments. Just seeing your results pan out based strictly on effort is a different type of motivation.
For rich people, passing down wealth and making their children as successful as possible is the priority.
For poor people it’s the opposite - children are their own ticket to wealth & a better life.
The equality in feminism refers to equal rights not sameness of composition. Obviously even among men, there are differences in strength, size, etc. In fact no 2 human beings are the exact same.
But they should all have equal rights, not determined arbitrarily by their sex.

The many comments of men agreeing with him + accomplished women saying they’ve experienced this is just one to you? Lol keep playing ostrich & pretending it doesn’t exist.

It’s a 1 week fully funded mini MBA at
@LBSNigeria
that very much changed my life trajectory & path. Do sign up for this:
The thing about applying well to high-quality opportunities, even if you don’t get it, you improve yourself just through the application process.
And some of the materials are probably reusable for other opportunities.
2nd quarter of my MBA starts this month. Courses I’m excited about taking this year:
1. Product Management
2. Consumer Fintech
3. Databases & SQL
4. Digital Marketing
5. Family Businesses & Private Wealth Management
I’m a big believer that the primary beneficiary of hard, conscientious work is yourself. So if you don’t like your manager, coworker, client, whoever, that’s cool. But do the work for your own benefit and self improvement not anybody else.
Here’s a free template I made for tracking your applications & rejections:
It includes links & deadlines for opportunities in 2024. Just duplicate and customize for yourself.
1.) In 2019, my friend sent me an article titled ‘Your Goal is to get 100 rejections a year’. I’ve been applying for opportunities with that goal every year since then.
2.) That year, I attended Venture in management program by

There’s no such thing as equal rights.
Equal rights means chaos.
One must lead, another must follow.
Inequality is good. But if you so much want equal right, you must earn it. As an individual, yes. As a community, impossible.
Decided to write this a thread. Some of these are not yet open, while some are, but all are annually recurring. So use this to plan ahead strategically:

I want to write “25 jobs, scholarships & opportunities every young Nigerian should know and apply for” this weekend. But I need someone to drag my shirt till I do it today or tomorrow. 🫠
Reading about this case where a company hired a candidate but had a 'break up fee' in his offer letter if he accepted & ended up not joining.
He accepted then used their offer to negotiate a higher salary his current company & didn't join the new company.
They sued him for
If you’re actually interested in solving many Nigerian problems jumping to digitize wouldn’t be your first reaction. Many problems here are infrastructural and policy-based.
