somethin I've watched with interest as ive grown up is the way cultural history is retold with an emphasis on the tastes of the upper + middle classes ... the excessive reframing of the 90s as the Britpop era (rather than what it was; the rave era) is a case in point

The UK underground made it to the front page of The Guardian. When do we start calling these guys mainstream?

In the UK you can escalate quickly with a small, smart team + a distro deal. In the US you can't even get on a playlist without having found a lawyer, signed over 92% of your royalties forevermore on a 10 album deal & handed over all yr publishing to some random A&R called Steve

With an experimental and maxed-out sound, bold new MCs are emerging from all corners of the UK โ and with US rap in the doldrums, the time is ripe for another British Invasion

If (big if!) this results in musicians getting a better pay out then I don't see the problem. Currently the pay outs are rubbish, and getting worse.
Major record labels are reportedly pressuring Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services to raise subscription prices, saying current rates havenโt kept up with inflation, according to Financial Times.

Ive just filed 2k words for the Guardian on the unstoppable momentum of UK underground rap. The Telegraph's celebrations may have been somewhat premature ๐ญ Out next Friday!

mind boggling. Suno spent $2K on all the music they have scraped, the essential fuel that goes into making their entire model possible. They're leeching musicians livlihood for pennies. This stuff is anti-human and needs to be understood as such
Billboard got access to Sunoโs investment pitch deck. It revealed that Suno has spent $32 million on compute, and $2,000 on training data. Let that sink in. https://t.co/xSnIIUvF0n

Interesting thing about Dubai is that it produces zero culture anyone else wants to import. They have to fly in music, art, comedians, writers, fashion, everything because they can't come up with anything other than shiny buildings and stuff that costs too much
I really think if London wants to be a serious city in the foreseeable future, the decision has to be made that with the exception of key workers, council housing shouldnโt be a thing in the worlds most competitive city. It makes absolutely no sense.

I think PS Hitsquad might be one of the most underrated UK rappers in the game There are not many people who could outrap this guyโฆ

this isnt at all my experience. Last time I was in Chicago, it was $8 to use an airport luggage trolley, & the wheels were bust. This pretty much sums up the States for most people - you pay for everything and half of it doesnt work.
It's probably hard for Americans to imagine this because it's their normal But being European and living in Europe and being radically honest when I arrive in America the main feeling I get is just endless abundance Non-honest (I'd say many to most) Europeans will not be able
