Step one: Clean the Statue of Liberty for the celebration. Step two: Melt it down to take advantage of sky-high U.S. copper prices due to tariffs.
We should clean the Statue of Liberty and unveil its shiny color on July 4th next year for the 250th anniversary of American independence 🇺🇸

As her own example suggests, AC in most places - definitely including Northern Europe - uses far less energy than heating. With AC, you need to cool temps by 10-20F for a few hours for a few days/wks. In the winter, you need to raise temps, 20-40 degrees (or more) for wks/mos.
A Guardian columnist argues that widespread air-conditioning is 'philosophically problematic' because 'the screaming urgency to tackle the collective issue of a world on fire can recede slightly.' . She has an AC unit herself, of course.

All of this. The copper tariffs make no sense - higher costs for construction/manufacturing w/o a domestic production boost. Easing NEPA rules on mine projects (copper, lithium, etc.) would be a way to boost U.S. output while lowering prices at the margin.
I don't understand the new 50% copper tariffs. They're not going to jumpstart US production, aren't targeted to countries in which we're in a trade war, and will drive up prices on a wide range of essential goods. A couple mines in the US are world-class and economic without the.

They should pay Ukraine for disposing of these missiles.
You know this administration could do the funniest thing ever and sell 170,000 hellfire missiles to Ukraine because it would be cheaper than going through all the bureaucratic red tape and environmental regulations to dispose of them in the United States.
