I didn't write the headline, though. Writing @thetimes, talking @timesradio Monday-Thursday, 10am-1pm. Latest novel, Rabbits, at link below...
Joined February 2009
My novel *Rabbits* is out today in paperback. I feel you should definitely buy it. Here are some of the lovely things readers have said about it over the last few months.

There seems to be a lot of talk about London. Here’s some context. As Security Minister I often walked an hour from Parliament to where I stay in London. The House or the office often kept me past 2200 and while I could take a government driver, it was good to walk at the end of

Pathetic performative cowardice. I mean, it's not even a workable lie. A better one would be to pretend it's only the suburbs which are inhabitable, while the centre is lawless. Which obviously wouldn't be true, either, but at least has some remote connection to the actual areas
London used to be the best city in the world. I loved living and working there. Genuinely loved it. The whole world wanted to be in London. Now? It is a dump. Outside a few select posh areas right in the middle of the city, it increasingly resembles the third world. It

This will make community leaders uncomfortable, and should, too. Recall that @freedland was early to raise the alarm about Corbyn's hinterland (and was accused of "subliminal nastiness" as a result). The massive disparity in response is flatly indefensible.
A significant intervention by @Freedland on the Farage/Dulwich/antisemitism story, which follows a leader in @JewishNewsUK. The more liberal side of the community is now pushing on this issue https://t.co/3dtDOTiJWm

I hesitate to share these replies. But it's astonishing we are at this point. A generation ago you would have lived your life without being exposed to these views. I'm not advocating a policy. Just pointing out how much has changed, and some of that change is very very dark.
“His ignorance means that he's simply wrong about the central arguments he makes as well as being able to laugh at the murder of my relatives.” Nick Fuentes puts himself “outside reasonable discourse” by supporting genocidal mass murderers, says @DannytheFink.

Actually, I agree.
Good column in The Times about Nigel Farage and why what he said at Dulwich College forty-plus years ago does matter today: https://t.co/2fpGxgY4lm

I've written about my thoughts, tangentially to the inquiry, on covid post-mortems. About confident maths, lack of confidence, and whether we should experiment on kids (we should). If I ever write about covid again, assume it's a hostage situation. https://t.co/F25b0jlidP

Horribly sad. I didn't know Rachel but we both did the TV critic beat at the same time. Hers were unfailingly the reviews most likely to make me think, "man, I wish I'd written that."
https://t.co/EXzbcGkYgZ A beautiful tribute to Rachel Cooke, the brilliant Observer journalist who has died so tragically young
