Union Station-Unhoused people used to live here. The National Park Service evicted them all. Unhoused people used to be able to rest inside, too. They literally removed all of the public benches & began enforcing ticket checks at certain hours. None of this ends homelessness.

Picture is of 6 pretty large blue planters that are filled with soil but w/o plants that block a large spot of sidewalk in Dupont circle.

Spotted in Dupont Circle. Unhoused people used to be there. Displacing homelessness doesn't end homelessness. In fact, it makes ending homelessness even harder.

Everybody deserves the right to rest. Removing benches is a hostile act against anybody who wants to sit down. This is shameful.

We're back after a little break. This site is... a lot! We saw this "bench" in Kalorama, DC. What does this accomplish other than making the lives of unhoused people even harder?

No tent zones are among the most hostile forms of hostile architecture. Contact the DC Council today and tell them to move away from this draconian practice and focus on housing

@HostileDC saw this spiked windowsill in Penn Quarter. Every window on this building that's on the ground floor and large enough for a person to sit in has them #HostileDC #HostileArchitecture

In this week's #Kaleidoscope, host @allisonradio speaks w/ @miriamskitchen's @jesserbnwtz, creator of Twitter account @HostileDC, about what some call #AntiHomeless #Architecture, meant to keep the un-housed from resting or sleeping in public places. https://t.co/vJDqgG3vvd

Check out our interview with @allisonradio for @CBSNewsRadio. We discuss anti-homeless design in DC and how it negatively impacts us all (but clearly how it impacts our unhoused neighbors the most!)

"Kicking people out of encampments doesn't end their homelessness. Instead, it makes connecting people to housing more difficult, detaches residents from their community, and destroys their tents and belongings during the coldest time of year."

People lived here. @MayorBowser kicked them out. NJ and O residents will suffer the same fate this Thursday, one week after Thanksgiving. Have you contacted the Mayor and your Councilmembers to oppose this harm yet? If not, what's stopping you?

This is a new one for me. They locked the cover to the electrical outlets so that people can't access them. Think about how you would charge your phone if you lived outside. How are you supposed to call your family? Your doctor? Your case manager? Your job? Cruel.

Spotted at the Reeves Center in DC. The DC Government made the choice to use DC tax dollars to install anti-homeless spikes on their own building. We don't remember these weren't there 5 years ago. Shame.

What's more terrifying than #Halloween? DC closing down entire sidewalks to prevent unhoused people from living there. Take action with @thewayhomeDC & tell @councilofDC to say "yes" to housing & "no to displacement" ACTION LINK: https://t.co/Vxfzf9fcDB Pix: @andrew202117
