It is just horrendous. Small and community businesses wiped clean. We need a lifeline.
This is my good friends cafe that she’s absolutely given her all to! Well done @UKLabour you’re truly awful!

@LeeAndersonMP_ The Great British Holiday would become unaffordable for many and it would do nothing to help support jobs or tackle the cost of living - wrong tax at the wrong time
ukhospitality.org.uk
A holiday tax will increase the cost of my holiday by £32.00 for 4 of us to spend 4 nights away in the UK. Scrap the holiday tax.

Winston Churchill once famously said: “Some see private enterprise as a predatory target to be shot, others as a cow to be milked, but few are those who see it as a sturdy horse pulling the wagon” It captures something many business owners feel today, especially in licensed

80,000 jobs lost for young people in a single quarter. Is there precedent for that? The reason is simply tax. VAT at double EU levels for hospitality. Business rates on hotels up 115% by year three. NICS changes bringing 750k people into the tax for the first time.
"Tax has made it so unaffordable to hire people at the start of their career." CEO @allen_m_simpson on @Channel4News, talking about the effects of taxation on the UK job market.

The vice like grip of tax, regulation and inflation is squeezing hospitality’s ability to provide opportunities for all - we know we can do it is the conditions are right. When govt cut NICs post financial crash we generated 1 in 3 net new jobs for 16-24 year olds

Absolutely stark news today - unemployment at 5.2% - and youth unemployment at 14%. 80,000 more young people out of work in a single quarter. Health warning - ONS data often get revised. But this is a clear pattern - a key part of the jobs market is being made uneconomic.

@crwcitypubs We are the most highly taxed sector of the economy - paying over 75% of profits in tax, twice the level of banks. Pre covid, £1 in every £3 paid at the till went back to the Exchequer, now it is £2 in £5

The overall tax burden for the hospitality industry is crippling - we need lower alcohol duty - lower VAT rates on accommodation/food -fundamental reform of business rates-lower corporation tax - we can then turbocharge our sector raising more taxes for the Exchequer - win win
@crwcitypubs Yes cumulative tax burden is what needs looking at and as you rightly highlight other countries see hospitlaity as a driver of growth
