There are 510 Players in the NBA & only 129 of them get 10 shots or more a game. 75% of the other players in the league have to do other things to stay relevant. Find other ways to impact the game. The ball wont be handed to you in every situation that you are in.

Dwight Powell is the most Professional NBA player that I’ve EVER worked with. Definitely worth the listen. Our game would be considerably better if EVERY young player took his approach to the game.
Players stop paying your trainers to work on nonsense that you’ll NEVER use in a game and work on things like this. This is a situation that comes up VERY often. Off the ball weak side your defender will lose vision of you 95% of the time. CUT
Luka Doncic is one of the best passers that the game has ever seen. On his step up pick and roll watch how the weak side defenders get fixated on Maxi Kleber rolling as well as Doncic's penetration this opens up the cross court one handed pass the corner shooter.

@swish41
Dirty Anytime! Hey I also found the picture of you signing your first contract with the Mavs having it framed and shipped. Happy Birthday Bud!
If you go back and watch player possessions across the NBA at least 85% of their shots come from simple basketball plays. Players have a choice. Work on simple plays or work on crazy shots that players take 1%of the time
I’m hosting a Webinar on Monday Night 4/27 at 8:30PM CST. It will be a comprehensive breakdown of Kobe Bryant’s game. Click the link below to register.
Great story on Irv Rolland from The Houston Rockets. Worked for everything he has and has the ear of some of the best players in the NBA. Great coach to follow. Unbelievable work ethic, passion, & Integrity. Doesn’t get enough credit
Players should ALWAYS be one of these two players. Either one that is trying to help and educate teammates, if not be the second… Be the curious player that is looking to get better and take advice from teammates and/or coaches
This is what being a winner looks like
Both Donte DiVincenzo being verbal with his teammate and James Wiseman being open to the instruction
The best teams are lead from within
Every Big should show effort and run like this. Duop Reath getting the stop and then running the floor for the finish. This puts ultimate pressure on the defense
Steve Nash's (
@SteveNash
) Shooting Routine:
Breakdown all of the shots he would shoot in the game... GAME SHOTS.
10x Jab & shoot
10x One dribble pull ups (Right/Left)
10x Hesitation pull ups
10x Step backs
10x Spins
10x Runner
10x High layups
50x 3's
Free Throws
Changing speeds is one of the most important skill sets that you can have as aPG. Being able to set your defender up slow and finish them fast will enable you to get in the paint effectively. You don't need 50 moves to do it. Read your defender & play w/ 2 speeds.
I’m not a big quote guy but Jeff Van Gundy said something that really makes sense “People Chase Credit and Run away from blame” Credit is completely overrated.
As a Player Do Have A Game Plan For Each Game?? Let me share with you what I prepared for Kobe Bryant for every game.Don't fly blind. Have an idea on how to maximize every minute that you are on the floor. Be A Pro At Preparation.

Shooting is all about the little details done the same way over and over again.With your balance hand make sure it is off the ball on the release & it's not impacting the flight of the ball.Look at Duncan Robinson's release and how the balance hand is off the ball.

I changed a player’s shot a few years ago and the first 6 weeks was all form shooting and non game speed to retrain the brain. People forget they shot with the old shot 100-150 thousand time. The brain needs to be retrained like any other habit
Footwork, Form & Follow Through. Typically do not leave the paint for at least a month to make sure the basics become the new normal. Overall theme is confidence - mentally building a strong base and core as well.
New Blog Post: Developing a routine for players to make them develop a professional mindset. In this I share my experiences with one of the hardest working NBA players that I have ever worked with: John Jenkins
Great article on Tim Grover and his work with Michael Jordan. Tim paved the way for so many to work with pro athletes in different capacities. He’s the best teacher I’ve ever had in working with professional players.
If you want to be great, you have to be obsessed with emulating other great players. Kobe studied everything about Michael from his footwork, fakes, angles, etc. Get in the film room and start studying why exactly are great players great.
I recorded a Discussion On Young Coaches Development with
@jymratt
Dave Severns of the Los Angeles Clippers. I think it's something that all Young Coaches should listen to. We will be releasing a new one every week.

I get asked a lot “What Move/Drills Do I Need To Be A Pro??” My answer is always the same… Moves and Drills Have Nothing To Do With It. Read The List. This is what gets it done at ALL levels….
It’s one thing to be a great defender , it’s completely another level when you can explain your tricks of the trade. This is at the level of a Kobe Bryant,Tony Allen,&Bruce Bowen. Great for any Player or Coach.
POINT GUARDS: Off the ball play is extremely important. You have to have impact on the game when you don't have the ball in your hands. Here are some thoughts on playing off of the ball.

33 years ago today, Larry Bird recorded a triple double by scoring 10 of 21 field goals with his off, left-hand.
He finished the game with 47 points, 14 rebounds & 11 assists.
His reason why?
"I'm saving my right hand for the Lakers."

Thybulle is clearly a starting wing player in the NBA that can be a 4th/5th option. He’s an elite cutter/ defender and can make spot up 3PT shots. It’s not easy surviving in the NBA even when you are good enough.
@DrewHanlen
Didn't have time to work on them this summer as they had to budget 86 minutes of juggling tennis balls and working on moves they don't use.
Coaches I’m running an early season Practice Planning/Player Development webinar in conjunction with

Players being relevant is the most important thing that you can have as a player.Our game is filled with simple plays. Dominate the simple things to develop your value. Here is a clip of me talking about Dominating Simple. Please share & leave a comment
In this clip I discuss players being relevant in other ways besides just dominating the ball and trying to score. In an example out of 510 NBA players only 100-105 get 10 shots or more in a game. Over 80% of the league has to find other ways to be relevant. Please share & comment
New Blog Post: The importance of teaching players how to move without the ball, pass the Basketball and screen effectively. Film on the 86 Celtics and their efficient use of moving the Basketball
Anytime
@JCrossover
talks about the game and breaks it down every player/coach needs to listen. One of the most focused and locked in players that you’ll ever come across
Anytime you are spaced in the corner and your man turns his head (and they will turn their head) on dribble penetration ALWAYS cut to the basket more times than not you’ll be open
Here is a new project that I am working on. It's called Kobe Stories, a series of mini podcasts sharing my work with Kobe. Story 1 goes into his on court workouts. Be advised..... Thee will be major lisping.

Too many coaches want to complicate things and throw 27 different things at players. Keep it simple give them 1-2 things at a time, teach them in 15 second sound bites and give them real time feedback
I think it is important to educate young players the importance of impacting the game in other ways besides scoring. 80% of the players who play do so without plays consistently being called to them. Finding ways to impact the game is critical for players at all levels.
Watch the activity level of
@MatisseThybulle
on this possession. Pushes up on the ball handler and doesn't die on screens. Constantly moves his feet and shows his hands. Contests the shot at the end making it an even tougher look for the offense.
@AndrewGaze10
Gaze you’re the best brother!! Thanks for everything you’ve done for the game and helping so many!! It was great Tomfoolery for 2.5 Hours!!
Coaches & Players I STRONGLY recommend signing up for ESPN + and studying
@kobebryant

Great Read on the best teaching basketball camp that I’ve ever been a part of run by one of the best teachers that I’ve ever had the honor to work with, Herb Livsey. His philosophy on offensive footwork as well as player evaluation was and still is ahead of its time

Gregg Popovich on telling your players the truth 💯
“I’ve always been a believer that players react better to the truth then blowing smoke at them or trying to manipulate them.”
