๐จVacancy๐จ Weโre launching a psychotherapy practice! โThe Red Clinicโ is recruiting a part-time admin assistant to help get the project off the ground.
Please share with people interested in mental health, Marxism, and worker organising.
(1) Throughout its evolution, it remains a reaction to and a defense against the continuing ideological threat and presence of a (defeated) Marxism, which thus occupies that taboo position around which the various fascist ideologies must organize themselves.
This panel joins a growing movement advancing clinical approaches that strengthen rather than undermine the dignity of trans life, and which work towards a psychoanalysis that actively wants trans people.

For reasons best known to the editors, the next edition of the once-radical Free Associations journal will feature a hit-piece on our dear friend and comrade Lara Sheehi.

Senior clinicians from across Palestinian society will address the psychological impact of apartheid, displacement and continuous trauma. Chaired by
@blackflaghag
Details and tickets:
The Red Clinic is an overtly communist psychoanalytic/psychotherapeutic organisation. We are interested in how clinicians and non-clinicians think this might impact the therapeutic relationship, analytic neutrality, the transference, and any other aspect of the work.
(2) Its elaboration as an ideology is, however, determined less by the practical dangers of Marxism or Communism than by the disintegration and functional discrediting ... of various hegemonic and legitimizing ideologies of the middle class state (liberalism, conservatism etc...)
Excited to announce this upcoming Red Clinic and
@London_Learning
event featuring three distinct psychoanalytic perspectives on the trauma of displacement and clinical work with refugees.
29th Sept, 7pm BST
Tickets and details:
If therefore as a reaction-formation it defines itself against Marxism as the fundamental enemy, protofascism grasps itself consciously as the implacable critique of the various middle class ideologies and of the parliamentary system in which they find representation.
(3) The structural inconsistency of these first two features opens up an ambiguous space in which a critique of capitalism can be displaced and inflected in the direction of the characteristic features of classical petty-bourgeois ideology.
(4) Finally, these various free-floating attitudes must be given practical embodiment in a mass ideological party which can stand as a figure for the new collectivity at the same time that it serves as the vehicle for the seizure of state power.'

Great article. There's another tendency alongside generalised infantalisation though in which states associated with childhood - dependency, spontaneity, unstructured playfulness, unironic wonder - are simultaneously derided. Mightn't we want more of that kind of 'childishness'?
Very excited to announce our launch on 30 July!

The appeal to 'debate' is often a facile bothsidesism under the guise of which protofascist and ethno-nationalist thought is able to enter the domain of respectable opinion.

At a time she has been facing death threats, her address has been shared online, and a vicious campaign has been launched against her by far-right media outlets, it seems unthinkable that an ostensibly leftist publication would want to join in the pile-on.
