That’s the thing. It’s not just overt racism that kills, its the internalized race-based assumptions and biases. Some are conscious, some not. If it can happen to the GOAT, imagine what happens to an avg woman needing help. #NotOnMyWatch

Health providers may not explicitly be drawing on racial narratives, but they've been socialized to think about Black women in specific ways that implicitly and explicitly allow them to misdiagnose or underestimate pain levels, says @RRHDr https://t.co/1cOHrzv2Tv   #NotOnMyWatch

@BGlickstein @AWHONN We need to acknowledge that a lifetime of anger, mistreatment, stress, and, for many, racism, has negative effects on the long-term health of a person. #NotOnMyWatch

Moms need support before *and* after #birth, and 1 in 4 new mothers don’t have the phone number for a provider to talk about health issues when they arise. @Healthline #maternity

The postpartum period refers to the first six weeks after childbirth. This is a joyous time, but it’s also a period of adjustment and healing for mothers.

@AWHONN We’ve allowed ourselves to become complacent with a “beer at everything” mindset. We refuse to acknowledge that others might have better processes. We haven’t owned up to the fact that how we treat each other plays a role in how our mothers survive. What else? #NotOnMyWatch
