We won’t support this and are leaving. It is time for the government and public authorities to follow suit. By staying on this platform, they legitimate it. There are alternatives where open discussion is possible and hatred & misanthropy are not rewarded through algorithms.

X has turned into a communication tool for its owner and his libertarian ideologies. The platform is seething with right-wing extremists, its bought certification is a joke, free speech is being restricted in the name of freedom of expression, human rights are being ignored.

In light of the recent developments we’ve decided to leave X. For us, freedom of speech and non-violent dialogue are existential. Over the past months it has become obvious that neither of them are possible here anymore.

We have filed a complaint against YouTube with the Digital Services Coordinator due to indications of violations of the #DigitalServicesAct. We see shortcomings particularly in the explanation of legal options and access to internal complaints systems.

Long overdue: Telegram will now provide user data to authorities who have valid legal requests. But whether this will be enough to combat crime on the messaging service and how to prevent an exploitation by authoritarian governments remains unclear.

CEO Pavel Durov said the change should "discourage criminals" who have given Telegram a bad image.

@elonmusk In 2019, Kamala Harris had called for social networks like Twitter to be held more accountable. Last week, her video statement from back then was another building block in the disinformation campaign against the presidential candidate.

While Trump is considering @elonmusk as a US financial auditor, Harris has been warning about the dangers of unregulated platforms for years. The outcome of the US elections could radically change the way we deal with social media. https://t.co/h3B3YrvnWg

Our #TwitterTrial with @EUJS: Rejected for lack of jurisdiction. X again doesn't care about the problems on their platform. Instead, they choose a loophole. What happened and why we will now be going to the next instance all the more:

The Berlin District Court has dismissed the antisemitism lawsuit against X. The ruling has implications for the future of strategic litigation.

On Tuesday was the hearing at Berlin Regional Court for our case with @EUJS against @TwitterDE. X is using formal reasons to make strategic litigation against them impossible. We'll go through all instances if necessary & inform you when the judgement is available. #TwitterTrial

The #DigitalServicesAct mandates user-friendly reporting for illegal content. However, TikTok's interface design will likely be leading to fewer reports. We've filed a complaint with the @bnetza. See @DanielHolznagel's analysis for more details:

Perhaps a new era of social media: a billionaire intends to buy TikTok in the US. And wants to fundamentally change the platform. Because it is not a law of nature that social media should promote hatred and division. #SafetyByDesign

A strong signal for online hate against women: the law passed today protects those affected. By 2027, all EU member states must ensure that dickpics, unwanted sexualised #deepfakes and other forms of misogyny are prosecuted. #VAWG

No woman should ever live in fear. I am proud of today's strong vote for the first EU Directive combatting violence against women. This is how we prevent violence, protect women & prosecute aggressors. Thank you @FitzgeraldFrncs & @EvinIncir for leading @Europarl_EN's efforts.

Disturbing revelations from @aiforensics_org: Meta's failure to monitor political ads creates a playground for pro-Russian manipulation ahead of #EUelections2024. With only 5% of political ads caught, urgent action by @EU_Commission is needed to stop this.
