🌱 Seagrass has returned and is beginning to thrive in the River Hamble for the first time in nearly 100 years! 🗓️ In April we planted more than 2000 seagrass seeds in the Hamble and now healthy plants are now growing, flowering, and producing new seed. https://t.co/VIQWMKyYwB

Despite their larger than life and terrifying reputation Asian hornets are actually smaller and less brightly coloured than our docile native hornet species.🐝 Correct identification is crucial! 🔍 For more information read our blog: https://t.co/ARLOuJiYvY

This is a rarely recorded Chalcid wasp, Gastracanthus Pulcherrimus, seen on the woodland edge of Coltsfoot Pond on 5/9. We're not sure if it's scarce or just not recorded much @Hants_BIC @GreenHampshire @bigmeadowsearch

A 2024 report by HBIC (Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre) has called Wildern Nature Park and "ecological wonder". The report was released in July 2025 and we think it sums up our lovely reserve to a tee @Hants_BIC @bigmeadowsearch @DorsetWildlife @GreenHampshire

Keep a look out for the bright yellow flowers of the Bog Asphodel (Narthecium ossifragum) around the #NewForest wetland areas. These flowers are protected by law and should be left for everyone to enjoy, including bees and other insects that need their nectar. 🙏🌼 #BogAsphodel
