HCCLA has been made aware of a recent increase in detectives from local agencies attempting to interview Defendants who are represented by counsel. We encourage all attorneys to notify their clients of this practice and to remind them of their 5th Amendment rights.

We are currently working with a multitude of issues with the @HCSOTexas Jail that directly affect incarcerated defendants’ 6th Amendment right to counsel. We believe that the current conditions are violating that right.

It has come to HCCLA’s attention that some judges in Harris County are requiring Defendants (and only Defendants) to wear masks in Court (including trial). We will be addressing the issue immediately.

It’s troubling to see how many Assistant District Attorneys from @HarrisCountyDAO are taking to social media to voice their support for illegal searches by private citizens. The irony seems lost on them.
