Actually quite brilliant, as it creates the film look without emulation — which is prone to interpretation. This provides digital convenience and expanded color range, with the analog compression gelatin infused with dye creates.

Dune (2021) was shot digitally then transferred to 35mm film and scanned back. Greig Fraser used this process to give the image a texture blending digital precision and organic grain.

Re-watching Otomo's Memories (1995). The quality of #animation is exemplary all around, but special credit must be given to the run/walk gaits, which are complimented with splendid, little nuanced movements. Take for example Miguel's stumble in his run around the 0:08 mark -
