But what good is a vote—even if Senator Thune keeps his word? This is just so depressing. So is this Eagles-Packers game.
.@SenatorDurbin: "During the historic roll call last night, I walked across the aisle and met with Senator John Thune, the Republican leader. I told him that I was counting on him to keep his word on this agreement. He assured me he would."

First scoreless first half for an MNF game since Browns-Ravens in 2009, yet it somehow feels like Green Bay’s down a pair of touchdowns. #GoPackGo

At least we could soon see Congresswoman-elect Grijalva finally sworn into office.
After 7 weeks of obstruction, I am planning to travel to D.C. to hopefully get sworn in. While I am eager to get to work, I am disappointed that one of my first votes will be on a bill that does nothing to protect working people from skyrocketing premiums. Full statement ⬇️

Good morning. The US Supreme Court has rejected an effort to overturn its same-sex marriage ruling.

Fourth Hero Half Marathon in the books. Not sure why I don’t run it every year. Not my best time, not my worst. Better than I’d thought I’d be able to pull off going in. Finished fourth in my division, 84th out 328 overall. Thanks to all the volunteers.

Good morning.
One of the biggest upsets on Tuesday: Aurora, one of Colorado's largest and more conservative-leaning cities, has swung to progressives. The conservative mayor, Mike Coffman (who you may recall from his time in Congress), says he is 'stunned.' https://t.co/ytFBhIKiN1

Since the 1800s.
Democrat Joe Khan has beaten incumbent Republican District Attorney Jennifer Schorn, becoming the first Democrat elected to the post in the county since the 1800s. This is a political earthquake. When a county that’s been red for over a century elects a Democrat to enforce the

Good morning. Let’s go run the Hero Half-Marathon.
Democratic gains in this week's elections erased the inroads Trump made with non-white, young, and low-income voters in 2024. In fact, the R-to-D shift from 24 to 25 is double Trump's gains from 2020-24. Claims of a Trump-powered realignment have been highly exaggerated

I know Republicans had to have won races in places somewhere last night, but I’ve yet to come across one. Exit polls suggest even voters upset with the Democratic Party voted for Democratic candidates last night (though the party shouldn’t assume that’ll happen in 2026).
Democrats flipped the mayor’s office in Beaver, Pennsylvania. The borough supported every Republican candidate for president in the 20th and 21st centuries with the sole exception of TR in 1912. Hamilton’s predecessor, Robert Linn, was their GOP mayor from 1946 to 2004.

It won’t be that easy. Or at least nobody who won or voted for a Democratic candidate last night should assume it’ll be that easy. Last night was definitely a sign, but there’s a lot of hard, often thankless work to do between now and November 3, 2026.

In addition to defeating an anti-mail-in ballot measure and a voter ID requirement last night, Mainers approved a “red flag” law. I tried to pass such a bill back in 2019. Couldn’t get it out of committee. Maybe somebody else can get it done in 2027.
