Our Spring 2025 Making a Difference RFP opens today! Submit your proposal for a project that will help resolve an emerging or unanswered bioethics problem in clinical, biomedical, or public health decision-making, policy, or practice by January 2, 2025.

.@TGallagherUW will assess implementation of Communication and Resolution Plans (CRP), a best practice for responding to medical harm events, and conduct a normative analysis. to determine solutions to "7 ethics questions that are impairing CRPs."

Crystal Brown of @UW will "assess. how. restorative justice [practices] should be implemented in healthcare settings in response to medical racism," using findings to “inform normative analyses of whether and how broader implementation in healthcare should be considered."

Lauren Baker of @WUSTL will "develop a set of best practice and policy recommendations to foster ethical decision-making related to psychotropic medication for foster care youth."

The Making a Difference program funds projects that promote Greenwall's vision and mission through innovative bioethics research that will have a real-world, practical impact. Here are our Fall 2024 Grantees 📣

Greenwall is hiring! 💼. We’re seeking a motivated Communications Manager with strong digital communications, marketing, and writing skills to expand our reach and highlight the excellent work of the Foundation’s Scholars and grantees. Apps due 12/1.

Supported by a Making a Difference grant, she has developed an approach called Better Conversations that empowers patients to make more informed decisions about whether surgery is worth it to them.

What’s wrong with informed consent? 💬. @GretchenSchwa10 studied communication between surgeons and patients. The informed consent process leads to an emphasis on details of disease & treatment, rather than the experience of the surgery.

We were proud to award this year’s Bernard Lo, MD Award in Bioethics to @ushamcfarling for her work shaping the public discussion or policy debate about bioethics and equity in healthcare or research. We’re grateful to @statnews for hosting an event tonight to honor Usha!
