They tested nukes on Hiroshima. Now they test bombs on Gaza. Different weapons, same doctrine: Use racialised civilians as live data. Children, homes, hospitals, all expendable. 145,000 Hiroshimas worth of firepower still haunt this world. And Gaza is the proving ground of the
Securing survivorsā memories of #Hiroshima is increasingly urgent, amid a new era of nuclear brinkmanship. The horrifying truth is that the 9 nuclear states have *already* amassed equivalent firepower of 145.000 Hiroshima bombs. This madness has to stop

@MothinAli Many of us of Global South heritage here in the UK, have family who lived, even died under Japanese Occupation during WW2. Still, we stand against the horrors of the atom bombs and in solidarity with Japanese survivors and families. #Hiroshima80

80 years ago, 250,000 people were obliterated when the US dropped the atom bomb on Hiroshima, then Nagasaki. @MothinAli asks what have we learned from history? As we hold them in our hearts, may their deaths not be in vain, and as humanity we stand against nuclear arms.
Today, 6th August 1945, the US dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, then on Nagasaki on the 9th August 1945. We have to learn from history! We can never repeat these tragedies. We can never repeat these horrors. Now more than ever, we need more energy into the campaign for nuclear

A visibly white person can have their identity overlooked. A visibly Black person canāt ā weāre targeted, abused, scapegoated. Thatās the difference. Racism isnāt about feelings ā itās about how the system sees you and treats you. We live it! #DianeAbbott
@GreensOfColour
Watching Peston bumble his way through this on the news earlier and my wife says "I didn't even know he was Jewish"...which is the precise fucking point Diane Abbott was making.

One of the highlights of my trip to Ipswich recently was catching up with my friend and colleague, councillor @tamhauyu. A fearless campaigner for humanity, often fighting alone but undeterred! A true inspiration, and I'm proud to call her a friend and comrade!

Just sickeningly inhumane. People are forced to take dangerous small boat journeys to flee danger because for the vast majority there is no other way to claim asylum in the UK. The ONLY way to prevent horrific channel deaths is to open safe routes and @YvetteCooperMP knows this

There is a long and noble tradition of using direct action by protest movements @GreenJennyJones asks if proscribing Palestine Action makes the suffragettes, Greenham Common women and anti-apatheid campaigners all terrorists?

I voted against proscribing Palestine Action. The govt cynically lumped this vote together with real terrorist groups. While I support proscribing actual extremist groups like the indefensible MMC and RIM, I refuse to conflate direct action with terrorism.

Govtās decision to proscribe Palestine Action dangerously conflates direct action with terrorism, risking a chilling effect on free speech and protest. It also cynically lumps them in with two genuine extremist groups, and shamefully denied MPs a proper vote on eachĀ organisation.
