Retweet if your 90's era calculator or 80's era computer with built in BASIC was an important part of your journey in learning programming. I'm looking for modern equivalents to that experience.

Do you know of any devices (other than the calculators from Casio, TI and Numworks) that have: * A built in programming language * And an input device of some sort Cellphones and tablets get the second part, but not the first part. I know of none that ship e.g. with Python, etc

To independent-minded voters: A commitment to truth, decency, and the rule of law curbs the worst excesses of partisan zealotry and demagoguery. Therefore I generally recommend voting for Democrats, given that today's GOP is not committed to truth, decency, and the rule of law.

To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.

22 months ago, the sitting President incited domestic terrorists who then breached the Capitol during which time he told them he loved them in front of everybody.

What Elon Musk is doing with Twitter employees - and what all the other external advisors are assisting to - is deliberately cruel. I'd have some compassion if it was a company fighting for its life. But it's not. Never meet your heroes - or see them up close.

Let’s be clear that this is an absolutely unhealthy and toxic way of working as there’s no real reason to do so. This is not a startup running out of money, about to go bankrupt if not for this manic sprint. It’s the worlds richest person doing this because he can. So he does.

A peer just introduced “opening a box of butterflies” as an alternative for “can of worms.” I love it and am going to steal it.

This is why "I can love HP without supporting her views" is a problem. Every time you watch her movies, play her games, buy her books, and buy her merch, you are padding her pockets. You're funding her bigotry. Even participating in fandom keeps her work relevant & monetizable.

So all that mediocre thought leadership was sucking up to Putin. Musk hasn’t met an authoritarian whose boots he won’t lick.

Jimmy Carter is 98 years old. I was only 5 years old when he stopped being President of the United States, but his legacy is amazing. He represents the ideal of President as public servant, and he lived to carry out that public service for many years after serving as President.

Every single Republican in Congress voted against lowering costs for Americans—now every single American needs to return the favor and vote them out of office.

Imagine an America where Congressional Republicans cared as much about lowering costs for American families as they do robbing women of their constitutional rights.

The shift to WFH is the largest shock to labor markets in decades. Pre-pandemic WFH was trending towards 5% of days by 2022. Now WFH is now stabilizing at 30%, a 6-fold jump. In America alone this is saving about 200 million hours and 6 billion miles of commuting a week.
