What better present could you get for Christmas than a PhD? Yesterday I defended my thesis ahead of my prize lecture in York on Tuesday. Thanks to Dr. Fielden (@FieldenStephen), Prof. McGonigal (@mcgonigalgroup), and Prof. Harrowven (virtually) for examining my thesis! #PhDone!

It's an honour to receive this award and I'm looking forward to sharing my PhD work in my prize lecture at this year's @RSC_MASC meeting in York. I can't thank my lab mates in the @GoldupLab and @sgoldup for the support over the years. This is equally their award as it is mine.
We are delighted to announce that the 2024 RSC MASC Group PhD Thesis Award given in memory of John Fossey is awarded to Peter Gallagher @PeterrGallagher from the University of Birmingham. Peter works in the group of @sgoldup Many congratulations! https://t.co/AJiaLLSFXw

Excited to welcome Dr Fei-Yu Zhou to the group! Fei-Yu now holds the (very hard to beat) record for time from arrival (21st June) to first published article (22nd June)! Check out this article from his PhD studies on perfluoroalylation: https://t.co/IqRqFAOMmd

A huge congratulations to Abed @e_saady! He was a massive influence in the group and we can't wait to see the great things to come from the Saady Lab at @BarIlanU!
🥳 to Dr Abed Saady (@e_saady) who has joined @BarIlanU as Assistant Professor! He will be missed 😭 but we wish him every success as a #NewPI and expect great things - Abed won the inaugural Wunderbar! award having had articles accepted in @J_A_C_S (2!) & @angew_chem in 2 weeks!

Thanks to the @SupraParis2024 team for the excellent science, hospitality, views and the opportunity to meet with old (lots of @GoldupLab alumni!) and new friends in supramolecular chemistry. A huge success and many happy memories!

A great poster session presenting our recent work in the @GoldupLab at @SupraParis2024 on mechanical stereoisomers and their stereoselective syntheses 🔗🍖 Thankfully everyone was primed and ready to talk stereochemistry after @sgoldup's talk yesterday!

The @sgoldup group @UoBChemistry present a platform for the synthesis of mechanically caged molecules, a macrocycle that can be modified to open in response to triggers. Mechanical caging is an old dog but this opens the field to new tricks! #openaccess

A mechanical lock with many keys. We show that a single macrocyclic precursor can be converted to self-immolative macrocycles that open in response to enzymatic, chemical, or photochemical stimuli....

🚨Last minute announcement🚨 Unfortunately Mujeeb Alam can’t make it today. Luckily Abed Saady @e_saady from the @GoldupLab is going to present his work on mechanically caged molecules – lots of lovely rotaxanes! See you at 14.30 UK time!
