This is a thread about Brady Street Pedestrianization. It's not about parking or delivery zones, but rather the larger parts of a project that will help ensure the long term viability of the project. 1/9

There’s no way that photo of Trump undoing Bill’s pants is real, right?

Scandinavians remain the most Democratic, ethnic-white groups like Poles, Italians, and Irish are in the middle, while Anglo-Saxons are the most Republican. The biggest 2024 shift toward Trump came from ethnic-whites.

thank you to Milwaukee’s socialist mayors for building and protecting our publicly accessible lakefront for generations to come

Despite not yet being completed, this trail looks better (and is a lot more fun) than the road that existed here before. 🌳

I’m pretty sure Milwaukee’s unique type of housing is the Polish Flat. We are the duplex city.

I’d be incredibly interested to see where they’re thinking about building this. I have a couple of sites in my head, but we’ll see.
Opportunity for more Class A office in @cityofmilwaukee. Reporting by @AddisonLathers. My DM’s are open, as are those of @MilwaukeeDCD. Let’s go.

Milwaukee already has trouble keeping snow on the ground in the winter. Is a realistic outcome of this continuing that it either doesn’t snow or rains most of the winter going forward?
Lots has been said about droughts in the West due to climate change, but far less about the opposite: the eastern half of the US is getting wetter.

The project significantly improved my life. It made the street safer, sped up the bus, reduced noise pollution, and created a convenient north-south bike route that I now use for my commute most days. I can’t wait for them to add concrete.
The two-way protected bike lanes on N. Van Buren Street have decreased speeding throughout the corridor by 85 percent! Plus, the bike lanes offer dedicated space for people biking on the street. Learn more about the project: https://t.co/gpiPUAHGQo

Apparently, we’re going to use $80k to build a statue of a developer? Have we done this before?

… mor vibrant, many of the remaining homes are larger, solid homes at least compared to Riverwest, and there’s a lot of empty lots that could be developed.

I just biked through Harambee and I think we’re going to be hearing a lot of good things about it in the next couple years. There’s a lot of renovations going on, it has some of the highest natural elevations in the city (you can actually see skyscrapers), MLK is increasing…

I hate Trump for doing this to us, but also, what a damning indictment of the entire system. Even if we had kept the funds, we wouldn’t have been able to begin construction until 2028-29. That’s 4-5 years to rebuild a 2.1 mile road. Winning WW2 took only a bit longer.
