Looking at Atlanta you'll be like it's not that bad over here. Some say dense sprawl is worse than very spread out sprawl idk if i agree with it. smaller yards and backyards, people actually do more stuff with them. And other thoughts I have against super low density sprawl

Atlanta took old school Europe with winding roads and built sprawl. There is no planning, its inner suburbs close to the center are decaying with abandoned lots. Unlike Canada and Cal it's not dense sprawl with pathways so transit is a disaster(look at MARTA recovery).

Much of metro Atlanta’s land use remains incredibly low density. We simply cannot service the entire metro with transit, where we have limited funds & frankly limited amount of people to in scattered areas.

Since @yyzMYA works at (I think/ assumed) @ridescooty I'm going to hope it the Presto integration with Scooty as Markham Centre is planning on having them. It was mentioned in a city staff report & council meeting on this.

Something exciting happened today. It is the culmination of almost 5 years of teamwork. It represents, potentially, a new beginning for how some people will get around the GTHA. And I can't say any more about it, but I look forward to sharing more information as soon as I can.

Never really noticed this until pointed out. 3 different US cities in different states with a centre medium but no traffic light mounted on them, just a really long pole or hanging on wires.

The Toronto Suburb of Vaughan & Mississauga have 23 built & under construction skyscrapers. For context that's more than Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Charlotte or Atlanta Have built & U/C.

The zoning of your first city in SimCity 4 is basically that of some parts of suburban Toronto.

@CompletedStreet All I hear is, “ look at how many jobs we can kill off with removing vehicles from the roads. Look at how many individuals would lose their jobs because of my shortsightedness.

Imagine how much more financially stable and livable many cities would be if acres of unproductive parking lots were converted to other uses.

US mall conversions to urban form are usually just 3 stories or 5 over 1 development while Canadian ones jump straight to 20+ stories high-rise.

Would it really be so bad if this happened in the typical American suburb? I don't think so.

These ridership numbers are sad. Guess what? Toronto's Bessarion station, the punchline of many jokes, would be in Los Angeles top 10 in station ridership.

Reddit user misken67 has put together a map illustrating LA Metro’s daily rail ridership by station for FY2023 (July 2022 to June 2023). Metro uses automated cameras to count ridership. https://t.co/NY7eBYRdiV

Canadian suburbs have catwalks/alleyway that makes cycling and walking faster and safer allowing us to get to the main arterial. Utilizing this gives you a more direct way than driving. Issue is people don't know, and mapping software doesn't show all of them.

The suburbs are too spread out, the distances are just too long for cycling to be practical... Right? Not so fast! What people get wrong about suburban cycling potential:

Imagine a new 6-storey mixed-use building with office space and homes in the upper levels. On the ground level, there's an A&W restaurant drive-thru that goes inside the building. The drive-thru was recently panned by Port Moody Council. #vanpoli #vanre https://t.co/Ii5r0rUIx6
