Our brain-to-voice synthesis brain-computer interface paper was published in @Nature today! This neuroprosthesis synthesized the voice of a man with ALS instantaneously, enabling him to ‘speak’ flexibly and modulate the prosody of his BCI-voice. 1/7 Paper: https://t.co/STKtfgypAW

📢 Heads-up to the neuro-ML/BCI community that we'll launch the Brain-to-Text '25 competition in ~a month, and it'll run through Dec. 31. More intracortical electrodes! More varied utterances! More... speechy? Rumor even has it there'll be cash prizes this year Stay tuned...
Excited to share our new report on lessons learned from the Brain-to-Text '24 competition! https://t.co/X3CPsP6AUV The biggest jump in accuracy came from using a fine-tuned merger LLM to combine hypotheses from an ensemble (see figure).

A key challenge in analyzing neuroscience datasets is the profound variability they exhibit across sessions, animals, and data modalities–i.e., heterogeneity. Several recent studies have demonstrated...

🎉Excited to share: My first ML conference paper, Population Transformer 🧠, is an Oral at #ICLR2025! This work has truly evolved since its first appearance as a workshop paper last year. So thankful to have worked with the best advisors + collaborators! 🤗 More soon!
How can we train models on more brains and sensor layouts? We present Population Transformer (PopT) which learns population-level interactions on intracranial electrodes, with 🔥decoding and interpretability benefits. See our poster at #ICML2024 @AI_for_Science 12pm
