You know, it’s refreshing how Japan markets kaiju movies. The plots etc may remain a mystery but they realize a major selling point to these movies is the monsters themselves. The American Godzilla movies by contrast are always so scared to show off their kaiju before release.

If you ever start to lose faith in humanity, realize that Japan let an American monster win while giving him top billing in King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) and America returned the favor with Godzilla vs Kong in 2021. This is what world peace looks like folks.

One thing I like about Evolved Godzilla, is that to me, he really seems like an extension and protector of nature. I can see him resting peacefully in a field of cherry blossom trees, like some sort of ancient eastern dragon.

Watching Godzilla King of the Monsters in 4K. God I love this film. It’s probably the Godzilla film I watch the most though it’s not my “favorite”.
One thing I’d tweak if I could….it would be the G 2014 design pre nuke, which would make the Rebirth scene more impactful I think

Does anyone else prefer the 1989 Godzilla to the 1991? And with that, I’d have to say my personal favorite suit of all time is the water 1989 suit, though I like the land version as well. Both just have very natural proportions and fantastic dark coloring.

Because Americans typically make our monsters more nature based while Japan has gone more stylistic with their designs which is why the Japanese Godzilla has a mouth full of lion fangs.

While we are complaining about fans preferring one version of the MV Godzilla to the other…let me throw my hat in the ring with this match up. I prefer Gamera Rebirth to the 2015 design. They’re 95% the same but the eyes are so much friendlier and I also love the glowing effect!

I have no idea what they could do next. Destroyah seems logical for a big Thanos level bad at some point. Outside of that. Just thankful for what we’ve gotten and I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

I’m really getting excited about GxK, and I’ve deeply, deeply fallen in love with GKOTM, but there’s something special about Godzilla 2014 as both a film and creature design. There’s nothing I would change about this guy. To me, he’s perfect.

Because it's legit a middling movie. The effects and monster design are great. The humans and plot are about as cliche as you can get. Monster fans get good monster stuff and they're trained to not care about the human stuff as much. These scores seem right.

Disagree. Harkened back to King Kong/G 54…..his “death” was pitiful, sad, up until then he’s depicted as monstrous sure, but I felt bad for him at the end personally. Just like I did with 54/84

Yeah. This is where we are and it’s annoying AF. I was one of the original 2014 fans decrying that it needed more love but it’s gotten to the point where I’m turned off of both the film and design somewhat because of the hardcore Snyder-fans esque cult…

Budget animation or not, I love the Kaiju designs and concepts in Gamera Rebirth. I wish they would have had more money at their disposal but I’m still thankful for what we got.

The US military had input and it certainly diluted /altered the direction Gareth wanted to take it but it’s not propaganda. The military only makes things worse in the film. Ford expressly demonstrates that he is bomb disposal which means his role is saving people, not killing.
