I have had a fun second day with Will Templeton. We spent most of the day on campus developing imagery of the ECOMIX sampling kit and the laboratory work. We also fitted in a trip to the river Foss.

What impact do all the grim substances polluting rivers have on people's health? A study by @PenkovaElitsa @UniofExeter wants to find out if wild swimmers get sick more often than non swimmers. They really need more NON SWIMMERS to complete this very quick, easy questionnaire šš¾

Many thanks for this excellent and much needed research to help society understand and respond to this global challenge in a risk-based, proportionate and one health way @markfranklin77
1/ 2 Do wild swimmers visiting UK rivers & lakes become ill more or less frequently than people who donāt swim at all? Researchers at @UniofExeter need your help to understand the health impacts of recreational use of our freshwater impacted by sewage-pollution & manure runoff.

And that's a wrap on our @ERC_Research REFRESH programme 2nd experiment. A very different environment than the chalk stream in our 1st expt. but nonetheless with wonderful biota: Beautiful Demoiselle damselflies (M+F), and the native freshwater limpet Ancylus fluviatilis.

It's brilliant to see increasing awareness around the environmental impacts of pet flea treatments. We now need an effective safety assessment system that doesn't assume negligible environmental exposure and that prevents problem molecules being freely available in the shops.
