Promote peace and end violence, that is what the Nobel Peace Prize is about. This can only be achieved through a true democracy, respectful of all citizens and governed by honest individuals. Congratulations to @MariaCorinaYA and all Venezuelans fighting for a better future. 👇

« The problem is that law in practice is pretty ignored », says @pablosecchi about campaign financing in Argentina. True of many countries and integrity laws enacted over the past decades. Enforcement bodies have to be adequately resourced and free from undue influence. 👇

For the first time in the history of the French republic since 1870 a former head of state will be jailed. Dealing through secret meetings with a foreign chief terrorist (Gaddafi’s brother-in-law) prosecuted in France now has a name under French law: it is criminal conspiracy.👇

Opaque public debt is public money created to be stolen. Citizens have the right to know how much is borrowed by their governments, under which conditions and for what purpose. Public money is the public’s money. 👇

Over the last thirty years most governments have performed relatively well in adopting anti-corruption laws and creating anti-corruption bodies. But now all that have to work, with staffed and resourced bodies that enforce the law without political interference. 👇

There are physics of dirty money. Corrupt individuals love countries with weaker institutions to steal their money from and countries with stronger institutions to invest their money in. They deprive people from basic services in the ones and inflate prices in the others. 👇

The global anti-NGO narrative forgets three things: NGOs simply are citizens’ associations with a huge diversity in every country and globally; NGOs have no executive or parliamentary power; and most importantly : without citizens’ associations power solely is abuse of power. 👇
