I believe the correct reading of the Bible involves a mix of Biblical Literalism and Old Earth Creationism. Humans knew God but gradually forgot. The Flood is historical. Yahweh was never a pagan deity. Giants were real. The Spirit of God did, in fact, hover over the deep.

You're misremembering. The last time Dem messaging was optimistic was 2008. 2016 was about an extremely sinister machine politician denouncing the working class as "deplorable" and attempting to pander to the various Dem constituencies in the most unconvincing way possible.
Say what you will about it but at least it had a twinkle of optimism. Democrats don’t have optimism anymore.

The 2016-2020 online Right was inundated with people who were Democrats the week before and doing edgy racism as a bit. Their contributions were negligible and Trump was pushed across the finish line by White Evangelicals and disaffected blue collar workers.
The 2016-2020 online right was much less inundated by performative Christianity and was much more tolerant of these types of things, but as the scene grew, it filled up with bible thumpers. I like my Bible quite a bit, thank you, but I hate scolds and moralizers
