It's National Oak Day! Today we celebrate the most iconic of our native trees. They are ancient guardians of our biodiveristy, supporting well over 2,300 species, many of which live in deadwood and hollows that are engineered by decay fungi! #fungi #actionoak #OakDay2023

It's peak season for observing some of the key heart-rot fungi on oak right now! If you can tell a chicken of the woods from a beefsteak fungus, then you could be helping us with our research into these magnificent trees and their fungi https://t.co/lg9GX9vyJ5

Fungi are critical to human and planetary well-being but represent a meagre 2% of global conservation priorities. Please consider adding your name to this statement calling for legal protections for fungi within conservation frameworks.

Check out this Radiolab podcast about a slightly alarming strain of Candida. A nice compact overview of the hypothesis of mammalian body temperature protecting us from fungal infections too. https://t.co/eosVZuPU68
