We're honored to be able to provide quality fire, EMS, and rescue services to the residents of the City of Forest Grove and our surrounding rural communities.
Our firefighters are shaving their heads this week, in support to their brother, B Shift Lieutenant Rick Ilg, as he begins the fight that he will win against brain cancer.
A lot of us have napped in a pickup bed, but maybe this pup is on to something, and the roof is more comfortable? Just a happy old farm dog enjoying a sun break during the lunch hour in downtown FG today.
This afternoon the Washington County Strike Team that was fighting the
#ThomasFire
for the last 2 weeks returned home. Just in time to enjoy Christmas with their families.
We’ve been saying it a lot. Stay off roadways if you can. It’s snowing now, roads are sheets of ice in areas and going to stay before freezing tonight. We’ve had 2 serious crashes today (pictured). Avoid travel to protect yourself, other travelers & us responders.
#pdxtraffic
ALERT: Firefighters report hearing sleigh bells and what looked like a glowing red light zooming all over the skies above Forest Grove. I don’t know about you, but maybe it’s time for the kids to be tucked away in their beds....merry Christmas one and all.
We’re joining other Washington County Fire Departments for a little 14 day road trip, and heading to Chico to assist the state of California with their massive wildfires.
We’ve responded to several fires resulting from fireworks this evening. Including this 1/2 acre fire that burned a baseball field near Elm St/15th Ave.
This evening we helped rescue 2 ducklings that waddled their way into a storm drain. It was noticed when 2 of their siblings were pacing on the road.
They were all happily rejoined together.
#duckrescue
We received about 10 inches of snow overnight. Our vehicles are chained up with firefighters eager to respond on calls (as you can tell by the firefighter sitting in the back). Roads are extremely slick, please stay home today.

Check out the thousands of gloves, gowns, booties, masks, disinfectants, and other protective items that
@pacificu
just donated! Pacific University is one of our state’s oldest institutions, and this donation will help Oregon fight back against COVID19.
We just cleared a small grass fire started by fireworks. We had help from a local neighborhood kid, who helped us provide a wetline around the burned area, to prevent possible spread. He also enquired as to when he’d be on
@fox12oregon
for helping.
Evacuation level decrease at 9am. Dundee RD, Lee RD, Herring RD, Cascara DR will go to Level 2. Cherry Grove and Patton Valley RD to Level 1.
@ORDeptForestry
will take command using local crews still. Fire size is still 175 acres.
Our crews just had an unusual rescue. An osprey was found caught in string and hanging from its nest. Citizens alerted us of this and our truck was used to bring it down safely. It was found with injuries from strings being around legs for a long duration.
ATTENTION MEDIA - we have drones operating on this fire, please advise your helicopter crews to stay out of the area, firefighting air support has also been requested.
We are on scene of a garage/shop fire at the McMensmins Grand Lodge on Pacific Ave. Crews have kept the fire contained and not spread to the main hotel.
Two single engine air tankers are en route to the Stimson Mainline Fire, these are seaplane type coming from Salem, and will take water directly from Hagg Lake. The lake is closed.

On May 18, 1980, a beautiful volcano just a little ways up I-5 took the lives of 57 people. St. Helens’ Cascade sisters are restlessly napping now, but have the potential to wake up and do it again - be prepared, not scared.
Current

ALERT - Crews just pulled into the station, and reported seeing Santa’s sleigh being pulled across the skies above Forest Grove. Kids, it’s definitely time to climb into bed!
The electrical burned farm worker called 911 himself, but crews had a hard time finding him over the large farm.
@WCSOOregon
Deputy Yazzolino (at right) used his motorcycle to access the fields and found the inured worker.
This is a real time photo of what the Pacific Northwest looks like, weather wise, this week. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and please be extra fire safe out there.
Our engine crew just returned from a call, and as they backed the engine in they spotted what looked like a sleigh being towed across the sky by flying reindeer. Kids, now is the time to get to bed! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
It’s been snowing in the city for a few hours, without sticking. Our crew just went on a call out near HWY6 & took this picture. Snow is sticking to roads in the Gales Creek area & we want to advise those traveling in higher elevation to use caution on roadways.
#pdxtraffic
When you’re playing so hard that you end up just a bit too high in a tree, that’s when we come out and help you back down again. A 9 year old girl got up there, but couldn’t get back down, so FF Ted Penge went up to play too!
Tonight, a media outlet was reporting that there was a new fire near Hagg Lake. This is false. The only fire in our region is the Game Hog Creek Fire off of Idiot Creek RD, north of HWY6, in the Tillamook State Forest. There’s no threat to the Hagg Lake area.
@ORDeptForestry
Gusty winds took down this approx 50ft pine tree on NW McKibbin RD. The tree landed on the house, severely damaging to the roof. No one was home at the time.

There have been several reports of smoke over the coast range in Western Wash Co. it’s smoke from a fire in the Tillamook State Forest near Drift Creek closest to HWY6. ODF is aware. No need to call it in.
This incident is in the 55900 block of HWY6. Driver is out, we are working on getting the passenger out of the heavily damaged car that is partially submerged. MJ
NEW EVACUATION NOTICE - ALL OF CHERRY GROVE IS NOW UNDER A LEVEL 1 GET READY ORDER. The Stimson Mainline Fire is starting to put out spot fires and winds are making fire growth challenging to predict.
Good news from the Powerline Fire, the retardant drops were on the mark, and more air tankers shouldn’t be needed if the fire holds where it’s at. Crews are getting a handle on this, but it’s still an active scene, and wind could still make this worse quickly.
Our newest career firefighters have completed their 3 month academy and will begin their first shift starting this weekend. Congratulations to them all!
Heavy rain & snow melt are going to cause some flooding the next couple days, especially near creeks/rivers that drain from the coast range. If you encounter flooded roadways, turn around, don’t drown.

Our station Captain was just outside, and reports hearing what he described as the sound of sleigh bells coming from the clouds above the fire station. Kids, it looks likes it’s time to get in bed!
Thank you to Forest Grove’s own, High Tech Crating, for donating to us over 1000 of the N95 respirator masks first responders so desperately need right now.
@WCSOOregon
your Deputies are our heroes, now and always. Today was not easy, but each and every one of you was amazing up there, and we are proud to work with you. Get well soon, guys!

It’s snowing in Forest Grove now. Not creating any problems. But we suggest heading home early today before the roads become slick later this afternoon/evening.
Portland Fire & Rescue lost an extraordinary firefighter yesterday to occupational cancer. Lt. Jerry Richardson was a beloved brother, courageous leader and selfless servant who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. 1/2
Smelling smoke outside? It’s likely smoke that has drifted into Washington Co from a 50 acre fire near Scappoose. Columbia Co fire agencies have been on scene for many hours. Please remember to only call in smoke if you see a source of it, not just the smell of smoke.
There are several active logging burns in the hills west of Forest Grove. There’s no need to report them to 911 or non-emergency. They’re being conducted safely, with permits issued by

Photos from this morning’s safe driving education event at Forest Grove High School. All injuries are simulated, but the student and parent volunteers did an extraordinary job of bringing some very real emotions out today.
The fire is out. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to the nearby dry grass. We are working on a gas leak from the vehicle and will hopefully open the Highway soon.

Lee RD, Herring RD, Dundee RD & Cascara DR are still under Level 3 Evacuation.
Cherry Grove Community & Patton Valley RD are downgraded to Level 2 effective at 6pm. This means residents in Level 2 can return home. Be prepared if levels change. Map to come.
Today is the 87th anniversary of the first Tillamook Burn, this one started in Gales Creek canyon just west of our city. This pic of the “blow up” was taken above the Tualitin River on 8/24/33. NW Oregon fires are almost always human caused, don’t let this happen again!
Please see the following statement regarding the city council’s decision on fireworks use this year. This affects only citizens within the city limits of Forest Grove.
Fire is under control. But crews will be here through the night and tomorrow putting out hot spots. Rough estimate is 15-20 acres. 3 structures damaged, 1 destroyed. MJ
🎉Happy Birthday🎉
Today we celebrate 129 years of serving the community. Over that time, many things have changed in the fire service, but one constant is our firefighter’s desire to protect Forest Grove.
We are with
@GastonFire
on Ford Road with a brush fire that is now 100% contained. The fire is 2-3 acres, and started by an illegal burn pile on site today. REMINDER - ALL BURNING IS CLOSED
This morning ours crews responded a non-injury crash involving a semi hauling cows. We assisted crews on scene with cutting apart the trailer to remove the cows. Refer to

This morning the McDonald family put out nearly 3,000 little American flags under our big flag. These will stay for the coming days as a memorial to never forget every life lost on September 11, 2001.
