Reminder that EBT switched to card to prevent fraud and abuse (people were trading physical stamps like currency), not to address some kind of stigma.
The "Food Stamp" program changed when they switched from physical stamps to EBT cards that are to look like credit/debit cards issued by banks. There was a social stigma attached to having to pull out books of stamps and hand them over to the cashier. They did not resemble
