Eastbound I-70 bridge/Lewis & Clark Viaduct closed. For those coming in from the west to Downtown Airport use I-670 EB through south downtown loop, exit left to NB I-35/I-29, exit left to I-70 WB, exit at Broadway/169 north, turn right/north. After bridge exit left into airport.

The Kansas City Aviation Department is saddened that former Mayor Charles B. Wheeler has passed away. Kansas City Downtown Airport was rededicated as Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport on the airportās 75th anniversary in August 2002. He will be missed, but his name lives on.
Mayor Charles B. Wheeler was a statesman all Kansas Citians, Missourians, and Americans could be proud of. Since becoming mayor, I have been proud to call him a personal friend and a mentor.Ā He will be missed. -Q

On this day 95 years ago, Charles Lindbergh flew into Kansas City to dedicate now-called Kansas City Wheeler Downtown Airport. He praised #KC, saying the city had an opportunity to build one of the best airports in the country due to airportās proximity to the business district.
