After 22 years, as of midnight tonight I will no longer be the MP for Poplar and Limehouse. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve our part of East London. I'd like to thank my constituents, my local Party, family, friends and staff for all their support over the years.

Thank you Marc, very kind.
Can't believe it is already 6 years since @Fitz_xMP retired as MP for Poplar & Limehouse. Jim and his team were dedicated servants of Tower Hamlets, supporting thousands of individual constituents and helping to secure record investment in schools, health, housing + LBTH itself

This month's budget will focus squarely on the priorities of the British people: protecting our NHS, reducing our national debt and improving the cost of living. Today I will lay out the economic choices we will take to deliver on those priorities.

This is excellent by @matthewsyed - and if he worries about writing the same column every week, it's only because he needs to... https://t.co/vooLxH1oJs

Excellent to hear how the Bill has already benefited from the more than 100 hours of scrutiny it received in the Commons (as of this week 120 hrs). Everything about this Bill makes it safer than the status quo - here's @kimleadbeater explaining how:
Privileged to be sitting on the Lords Select Committee on the assisted dying bill which started work this week. Some great witnesses

Government defeats freeholders' judicial review in 558 paragraph ruling, with last para worth a look. It means secondary legislation to 2024 Act can resume (even tho' appeal inevitable).

1: Reflecting on his own Jewish faith, Lord Winston said he could not impose his religious views on others. In a compassionate, pluralistic society, we can each hold our own beliefs - while trusting others to make the choices that are right for them. #YestoDignity

You’re right @MrTCHarris, this is shameful. Sian Berry’s victim blaming after the latest trans violence is disgusting

If female MPs from allegedly ‘progressive’ parties can no longer stand in defence of women’s rights, then who can?

Strange, I know, but I find myself completely untroubled by the fact that total strangers don't understand why I think women's rights are worth defending.

I heard this time and again when I was in this mythic "trans community". The self-inflicted hysteria - that society is trying to "genocide" the trans people and that everyone wants to out and kill trans people. And then I crossed the political aisle and met some of the
‘That bitch’ definitely doesn’t want you dead. She does think you could use some mental health support, though.

I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points. I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should
