watched it this way once in college with a bunch of first timers. words cannot describe watching ROTS and realizing in real time that they didn’t know Luke and Leia were siblings. they saw pregnant Padmé and said “it’s weird to think Luke is in there.” end of the movie was chaos.

watched American Graffiti on the big screen tonight and hoo boy did it look bad. it took genuine effort from me to try to take in the film instead of gaping at how shitty the dnr made it look. i did not fully succeed.
The digital noise reduction is completely extreme, of course. Baffling choice for a film *shot on a film stock specifically because it was grainy.* Destroyed detail all over the place. Tons of artifacting in motion.
