Cartoon Network Studios, as you know it, is gone thanks to David Zaslav. It consolidating into a single unit with Warner Bros. Animation, and this is HUGE news. It's also an ominous sign for the future of new, original Cartoon Network animation.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Scooby Doo! The iconic characters were designed by Iwao Takamoto, an American artist who was forcibly incarcerated in a concentration camp as a teen bc of his Japanese ancestry. He was hired at Disney in 1945 while his parents/siblings were still interned.

RIP: Albert Uderzo, the co-creator and artist of "Asterix," has died at 92. He drew the comic from 1959 to 2009.

A Gorillaz film is in the works at Netflix, Damon Albarn confirms. “Making an animated film that’s kind of abstract is quite a big risk for a movie studio because they’re very expensive,” says Albarn.
Genndy Tartakovsky has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios that gives him “maximum creative flexibility to develop original material and access to the extensive character and franchise libraries at each studio.”
If Hayao Miyazaki wins the Oscar for The Boy and the Heron, he will become the oldest person to win the animated feature Oscar, at age 83.
The current oldest person to win the category? Also, MIyazaki, who was 62 when he won the Oscar for Spirited Away in 2003.
